This handcrafted donburi bowl is made in the traditional kohiki style, where red, iron-rich clay is coated with a white slip, resulting in a soft, organic white tone.
Unlike glossy glazed ceramics, kohiki pottery has a warm, comforting feel that grows richer with use.

Kohiki pottery is naturally porous. It may absorb moisture or food colors over time.
To help prevent staining, briefly rinse the bowl in clean water before use.
Note: We do not recommend sealing it with rice water.

After washing, water absorption may temporarily create marks on the surface—these will disappear once the bowl dries completely.

The aging and changing of kohiki ware is part of its unique charm. Use it often, and watch it develop character with time.
