The glaze is made using cherry wood ash and straw ash, and combined with a matte black base, it has a look that is reminiscent of Korean Karatsu ware.

It can be used as a "yuzamashi" (a container for cooling water before pouring it into a teapot), for cold sake, or as a small bowl.
